DONOR ADVISED FUNDS

By designating gifts to Episcopal Charities as "donor advised funds," you may name your own charitable fund and may recommend grants, immediately and in the future, to Episcopal Charities Partner Agencies, Episcopal Charities incubator projects or nonprofit organizations of your choice. You receive a tax deduction at the time of the contribution, advise us as to distributions from the fund, and may continue your philanthropy by adding to the fund at any time.

A Donor Advised Fund

The assets that become the basis for a donor advised fund are a charitable donation and are considered a tax deductible gift to Episcopal Charities in the year the gift is made. Your donor advised fund is tracked separately for accounting purposes (but not maintained in a segregated fund) at Episcopal Charities and is included in one of our investment funds. As a donor, you are an "Advisor" to the fund and are encouraged to recommend grants to charities from the fund every year. Your donor advised fund is considered a component of an existing public charity.

It is important to remember that Episcopal Charities retains the right to approve or deny your grant recommendations and to control investment decisions and investment policy.

Since all gifts to a donor advised fund are irrevocable, we strongly encourage you to consult with your own tax advisor before creating a fund with Episcopal Charities.
